Walton Tap Extractors let you remove broken taps without drilling, lasers, damaged threads, scrapped parts, or repair inserts. Provides an efficient way of correcting/removing broken taps without injury to the thread. Using a tap wrench to the square shank, twist forward and backward a few times to loosen, pull it up. Slide the sleeve down until it touches the work. Slid down the extractor fingers gently but firmly into the flute of the broken tap. Clean away all chips on the workpiece and broken tap. The Walton company recommends following three simple steps in the event of tap extraction: 1. The square shank allows any standard tap wrench to hold the tool firmly.
